Those are platform and forum names, not verified entries. None of them published rates or hours we could read this check, so they appear here without figures on purpose.

Porta Hotel Antigua is the name most searches circle around. The platform pages fill its listing with pool-and-gardens photographs, and everything else about it comes from those platforms, so treat the rankings as popularity, not auditing. A rank means travellers click and review, nothing more.

Hotel Museo Spa Casa Santo Domingo

Casa Santo Domingo is a restored monastery at 3a Calle Oriente 28-A, and it is the sight and the hotel at once. The property holds six museums, the fine-dining room El Refectorio, a second restaurant called El Tenedor del Cerro and the Bar Cabildo cocktail bar. Rooms start at $225 (Q1,719) on the hotel's own site.

The honest note on stars

Antigua does not publish an official star table in anything we could read, so the 5-star label here is a market word, not a rating. Platforms and guidebooks apply it to Casa Santo Domingo and to a handful of boutique houses. The pricing anchor is the room rate, not a star.

If a listing claims five stars and quotes no rate you can trace, weigh it the same way you would weigh any unpriced name in the snapshot above.

Courtyard quality varies room by room

Mid-range Antigua means courtyard hotels with pools and parking, and the platform pages fill with them. None publish rates on their own sites, so the honest reference is the platform floor of $76.95 (Q587.90) a night. At that figure the courtyard quality varies room by room.

Review scores matter more in this tier than in any other, because you are buying an individual room behind a shared wall, not a brand standard.

Three checks before you book

Ask which way the room faces, because the arch street carries noise well into the evening. Ask whether the pool is a plunge tank or a lap pool, since photos blur the difference. And if you drive, confirm parking exists at all.

Guesthouses, and the homestays that do publish

The guesthouse and hospedaje world is family-run and simple, usually priced in quetzales off-platform. Nothing citable exists to quote for it, and we say so plainly. The schools' homestays are different, because they publish.

Spanish Academy Antigüeña charges $130 (Q993.20) a week for a private home with a shared bath, or $160 (Q1,222.40) private bath, with three meals a day except Sundays. Ixchel Spanish School sells single rooms with meals at $235 (Q1,795.40) a week. That works out to $18.57 to $33.60 a night with food, which nothing else in the city's citable record beats.

On-site school rooms, a weekly middle path

San José El Viejo rents rooms on its own grounds at $470-610 (Q3,590.80-4,660.40) a week, with breakfast on weekdays and airport pickup included. That is $67.10 to $87.10 a night for a settled base and a reason to be in town, since classes run one teacher per student. The spread, district by district

The colonial grid concentrates the landmark and the boutique tiers, the edges take the quiet conversions, and the residential districts run the guesthouse and homestay economy. One district, El Hato, holds a lodge rather than a hotel market at all. Its restaurant is open to day visitors daily 8am-8pm, and the property sits 300 m from the nearest road, which tells you most of what a car-free traveller needs to know.

How to use the spread

Pick the district first, because it decides your evenings: the grid walks home from dinner, the edges ride a tuk-tuk at the municipal Q10 ($1.31) tariff, and the ridge ends its nights early. Then apply the tier table from the categories inside that district, and only then compare individual rooms on the platforms. Reversing the order, room first and district last, is how travellers end up with a fine room in streets they do not want to walk after dark.

The count is real: the Booking.com city page summary counted 338 properties when we read it, and its entry figure of $76.95 (Q587.90) is a genuine bookable floor. Review scores are real opinions, and in a city where no hotel publishes a rate list, the score distribution is the closest thing to an audit. Sort by score, read the three most recent reviews rather than the top ones, because a courtyard hotel changes management more often than a chain does.

Prices move by day and by device, and the same room can quote differently on the platform and on the hotel's own site, which is exactly what our snapshot caught at Casa Santo Domingo, $248 (Q1,894.70) against $225 (Q1,719). And none of it is a contract until you hold a confirmation with a total.

The honest answer

All inclusive hotels in antigua guatemala is a real search line, and the city's hotel stock is courtyard-and-restaurant, not resort-band. In our reading, nothing in the citable record sells an all-inclusive model inside the grid. The resorts that fit the description live on the coast, hours away.

If the wristband model is the requirement, this is the wrong city. If it was just the search phrase, the boutique courtyards deliver the same everything-in-one-place feeling, rooms over a restaurant and bar, with better food and streets outside the door instead of a fence.

Two currencies, one card warning

The city runs on two currencies. Platforms bill in dollars and guesthouses quote in quetzales. One school publishes its own fixed desk rate of Q8 to the dollar, above the market rate this site converts at, plus a 17% surcharge on cards.

That combination is a good warning to ask for the quetzal price and the card fee before you pay anywhere. ATM fees commonly run Q40-49 ($5.24-6.41) and seem fixed regardless of amount, so withdraw larger sums less often rather than small amounts daily.

The checkout-total rule

No official source publishes an Antigua hotel tax, so this page prints no tax figure and you should trust no page that does. The number on your confirmation is the one to trust, because it already contains whatever the property adds. Ask whether the rate is room only.

Several courtyards bundle breakfast and some price it separately, and that one question moves the real comparison more than any list of amenities.

Getting from the airport to your room

Private transfers meet flights at any hour for $50 (Q382) with Turansa, for one to four people, with $15 added after 21:00. Shared shuttles are $15 (Q115) booked ahead. Both drop you at or near your hotel door, which matters after dark on cobbles with bags.

The documented season, and the week that changes the city

Dry season runs November to April and it is the postcard window. In Holy Week the municipality's machinery takes over the streets. The most recent published Palm-Sunday closure list included Calzada Santa Lucía, cars get pushed to the Santa Inés and La Pólvora lots with stickers at Q10 ($1.30) Monday to Thursday and Q20 ($2.60) from Friday through Semana Santa, and free buses run from the lots into town.

The arithmetic of staying longer

Four homestay weeks at $130 (Q993.20) each add up to about $520 (Q3,972.80) a month with three meals a day, which is less than two nights at the monastery landmark. Four weeks in the school's on-site rooms run $1,880 to $2,440 (Q14,363.20-18,641.60) with weekday breakfast and the airport pickup already inside the price. Nothing in the nightly market touches that arithmetic for a month-long traveller, which is why Spanish students have quietly kept this city's cheapest beds booked for decades.

What a week buys beyond the bed

The homestay package is meals and a family's rhythm, which doubles as six hours of Spanish practice a day whether you enrolled or not. The on-site rooms buy independence with breakfast. Both buy a fixed address for laundry, a morning café and the tuk-tuk stand, and both are bookable directly with the school rather than through a platform, which is also why their prices hold still long enough for a guide to print them.

Not one hotel in our citable record publishes a check-in or check-out time online, so nobody can tell you a standard, and we will not invent one. Ask the property in the booking message, the same thread where you confirm the total. The one arrival hour that matters is a late flight: shared shuttles thin out toward evening, a private transfer meets any flight for $50 (Q382) with a $15 surcharge after 21:00, and tuk-tuks stop working around 22:00, so a midnight landing should be booked with the transfer before it is booked with the bed.
